Enrolling into the Apple Developer Program as an individual

All businesses who wish to publish an iOS app are required to enroll in the Apple Developer program. This article will describe the process of enrolling in the Apple Developer Program as an individual.To enroll in the Apple Developer Program, you will need to pay a $99 (USD) annual publisher fee – charged by Apple. This fee is the same whether you enroll as an individual or as an organization, and it must be paid on a yearly basis.

The following must be completed to successfully enroll in the Apple Developer Program:

  1. Create an Apple ID. If you already have an Apple ID, you do not need to complete this step. Please note that creating an Apple ID is not the same as creating an Apple Developer account. Follow this link to learn how to create Your Apple ID.
  2. Disable two-step verification on your Apple account and enable two-factor authentication. Follow this link to learn how to disable two-step verification and enable two-factor authentication.
  3. Enroll in the Apple Developer Program. Follow the instructions listed below to complete this step.


    To enroll in the Apple Developer Program:

    1. Go to the Apple Developer Program enrollment page and click Start Your Enrollment.
    2. Log in with your Apple ID and password.
    3. When asked to verify your identity, enter the verification code sent to your Apple ID email address and click Continue.
    4. Under Entity Type, select Individual / Sole Proprietor / Single Person Business from the list and click Continue.
    5. On the Contact Information page, enter your personal information in the provided fields.
      • The App Store will list your legal name as the seller.
    6. Select the checkbox at the bottom of the Apple Developer Program License Agreement and click Continue.
    7. In the Summary for Review page, review the information you have entered and click Continue.
    8. Review your purchase details. Under Automatic Renewal, select the checkbox to renew your membership automatically.
      • If you do not select automatic renewal, please set a reminder on your calendar (repeated yearly) to renew your membership every year. Your app will be removed from the App Store within 24 hours upon the expiration of your membership.
    9. When you are forwarded to the App Store, log in again with the same Apple ID and password.
    10. On the next screen, pay $99 with your credit card and click Continue.
    11. Accept the Terms & Conditions and click Continue.
    12. Follow the on-screen instructions until you see the Thank You page.
      • You have enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. You will receive two welcome emails and a payment confirmation email from Apple at your Apple ID email address.
    13. Email your Apple ID and password to whateveryouneed.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can I enroll as an organization instead of an individual?

    Yes, however, the following restrictions may apply:

    • If you are a sole proprietorship or a single person company, you must enroll as an individual.
    • If your company is a limited liability company (Corp., Inc.), corporation (LLC, LC, Ltd. Co.), or a legal entity (GmbH, AG, KG, oHg, etc.), you cannot enroll as an individual or your app will be rejected.

    Can I list my company as the seller on the App Store?

    If you want to list your company as the seller on the App Store, you will need to enroll your company as an organization. You will not be able to list your company as the seller when you enroll as an individual.

    Enrolling as an organization takes significantly more time, but it gives you the following advantages:

    • You may invite additional developers to your team within your organization’s account.
    • Your company name will appear as the seller so long as your company is recognized as a legal entity. If you are a sole proprietor or a single person business, your legal name will appear as the seller instead.
